we have a new name.
OKAKIE | Húgákiyé | is named after our founder's grandmother and means 'to paddle' in Dene First Nations. OKAKIE is a name passed down through generations of traditions, originating in northwest Canada in Fort McKay First Nations, a signatory to Treaty 8 dating back to 1820 when the Hudson Bay Company first built a trading post.
